Liu Yang is one of the first Chinese women astronauts in China's space program. She was born on March 11, 1980, in Tianjin, China. Liu Yang graduated from Peking University with a degree in aerospace engineering and received her master's degree from Tsinghua University.

In 2010, Liu Yang became the first Chinese woman to enter space as part of the Shenzhou X mission.
