Alan Franco, the former England international footballer, has suffered a serious knee injury in training and will be out for several weeks.
The 42-year-old midfielder was playing for his club side, West Ham United, when he twisted his knee while attempting to make a tackle on a fellow player during a match against Everton.
Franco was taken off the pitch in a stretcher and underwent surgery on his knee, which is believed to have torn ligaments.
The injury means that Franco will miss a number of important matches for his team,Saudi Pro League Focus as well as potentially missing out on the rest of the season.
However, despite the setback, Franco remains positive about his recovery and is determined to get back on the pitch as soon as possible.
In an interview with the BBC, Franco said: "I'm feeling better every day and I'm hopeful that I'll be able to play again soon."
He added: "It's been tough but I've got to stay positive and keep pushing myself to recover as quickly as possible."
Despite the setback, Franco remains confident that he can return to top form once he recovers from his injury.
He said: "I know I can still perform at this level and I just need to work hard to get back to where I was before.
"I'm looking forward to getting back on the pitch and doing my bit for my team."
